As deployed in the station, QuestAir’s HyQuestor® system purifies a hydrogen containing gas stream extracted or ‘reformed’ from natural gas. The purified hydrogen is then used to fuel City of Las Vegas transit buses and other vehicles, or a stationary 50kW fuel cell electricity generator.

The demonstration project was funded by the United Stated Department of Energy (DOE) and the prime contractor is Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE: APD) of Allentown, PA, a global leader in the development of hydrogen infrastructure. The fuel cell power generator is a product of Plug Power Inc. (NASDAQ: PLUG) of Latham, NY.

Jonathan Wilkinson, President and CEO of QuestAir, said that the installation of the HyQuestor® unit further emphasizes QuestAir’s position as the leading supplier of compact, cost-effective hydrogen purification systems for distributed hydrogen refueling stations.
